Battle of the Books
We are very excited to announce the return of the Battle of the Books for the 2017-2018 school year! Once again, the competition will include other schools in the Elk Island Public Schools district.
Battle of the Books is a reading club for grades 4, 5 and 6 that encourages and recognizes students who enjoy reading. Students read six novels carefully selected by the Glen Allan Battle Coordinators for each grade group featuring a wide range of genres, themes and authors. They read the books at their own pace, discuss them, quiz each other on the contents and compete in teams of three to correctly answer questions based on the books. The questions all begin with “In what book…” so that the answer will always be the title of the book.
There are multiple copies of the Battle Books available for checkout in the Glen Allan School library. Alternatively, students may wish to purchase the books themselves or borrow them from the public library.
Below are the six books chosen for each of the grades.
